Program Overview

Picture this:  You’re a few weeks into your new job when a bright light flashes, a portal opens, and out walks an older, wiser version of you.  This version has thirty years of work experience under their belt.  You’re glad to find out that they’ve achieved some impressive things, goals that seem so distant to you now, but they (you) admit that they’ve (you’ve) also made every mistake in the book.  That’s why they invented a time machine, to come back in the past and spare you the pain of learning things the hard way by imparting their hard-won knowledge to you as you’re just starting out.  That’s nice of them (you), right?  Like your mom always said, borrowed experience is cheaper than bought…

While our material could benefit an individual at any stage in their career development, we believe it could be uniquely impactful for those in the first five years of work.  Pathfinder modules are like having a time machine, a way to look to the future and avoid common mistakes and wasted opportunities by learning all the professional ropes presented early and clearly.  Can you learn all of this on your own?  Maybe!  But as any seasoned professional will tell you, there are things you’re going to wish you’d known sooner.  And just like the time-value of money, early knowledge can have the greatest impact

Emotional Intellegence

Emotional intelligence is the foundation of your professional life. It’s likely the foundation of your personal life too, but that’s a different prep course.  At Pathfinder, we’ve taken the best that psychology has to offer and developed our “Identify-Manage-Use” framework.  We’ve combined research on emotional intelligence, affective neurobiology, and cognitive behavioral theory to arm you with a framework for managing work’s complicated interpersonal dynamics.  Expect to gain deeper insight into how you function, stronger interpersonal observational skills, and better tools for an emotionally intelligent work life.

Interviewing

Interviews are the final gatekeeper between you and your next role. PathFinder’s 3-part framework addresses pre-interview prep, how to excel in traditional, behavioral, and case interviews, and how to advocate for yourself during post-offer negotiation. Interviewing is a little understood but critical skill so we spend significant time ensuring you understand what firms expect.

Resume and Networking

Your resume and networking game will be your entry point into professional life. For resumes we go beyond the simple words on your page and teach the mindset and approach necessary to build an exceptional personal narrative layered with compelling professional themes. The networking module introduces you to formal, informal, and digital spaces where networking takes place and arms you with the tools, scripts, and mindsets to navigate them.

Problem-solving and Communication

Problem-Solving Module: Learn how to plan and manage your workload effectively before jumping into execution. We cover structured problem-solving, research techniques, and data-driven decision-making so you can approach challenges with clarity and confidence.

Communication Module: Master the core communication skills that matter across every career path. From delivering impactful presentations and running effective meetings to writing professional emails and navigating performance conversations, this module equips you with tools to succeed in any workplace.
